decode me
For this project, I was asked to typeset an article and then create a graphic representation of that article.
When I first moved to LA, I was living in Monrovia and commuting 40 miles to Westchester. I spent anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours in my car, letting Waze navigate me through the city, around traffic. My adventures in commuting took me on freeways and along city streets. Each time it seemed like I took a different route. Even with Waze telling me where to go, I found it difficult to navigate the streets of Los Angeles. It seemed like every sign was hidden behind overgrown plants or placed somewhere that it was nearly impossible to find. It felt to me like the LA streets were written in code and I had to work to decipher it.
This feeling was my inspiration for this project. The article I chose is about codes and ciphers. For the graphic representation, I used a few of the codes and ciphers I read about to write a coded message. Can you decode it?
This project was printed with a laser printer and a Risograph.
